Farenas Hungry for WPBF Featherweight Title Belt

It’s barely one day before the big fight at Cuneta Astrodome on October 3 and still Michael Farenas is training rigidly for the big day. He will be pitted against the Korean warrior for the World Professional Boxing Federation Featherweight Boxing Championship. Should Michael win this battle, this will be his first championship belt and I seriously believe that he’ll be able to clinch the title.

Michael is a hard puncher. He is best known for sending his opponents down the ring on the first few rounds of the game. He has astounded those who attended the Pacquiao-Hatton fight by knocking down his South American opponent few minutes of the first round. This Bicolano southpaw wants the game finished just as soon as it started.

I watched Farenas work out and train for this match. I gave few hints and shown him some technical moves. The training team headed by Carmelo Penalosa also laid fight plans. We all invested our time and effort in preparation for this bout and now everything will depend on him, on his performance inside the ring and on how well he executes the fight plan we have laid out.

I expect to see the same Farenas inside the ring and more. I want to see him throw more hard punches and I also want to see him parry those punches his opponent throws at him. I want to see determination and dedication to win. I want to see eyes hungry for the win as he takes his opponent down on canvas. His opponent is an equally good fighter so there’s no need for Michael to be complacent. A warrior must not take his guard down because an upset might come unexpectedly. Farenas is a good boxer and I know he will not disappoint every Filipino who expects him to win.

Ang Pilipinas ay unti unti nang nakikilala ngayon sa buong mundo bilang tahanan ng magagaling at mararangal na manlalaro ng boksing at marahil ito ay sapat nang dahilan upang dumami pa ang magkahilig na maglaro at sumuporta sa dito. Isang malaking pasasalamat din sa mga kompanya at mga pulitikong patuloy na naniniwala sa kakayahan ng mga Pilipinong boksingero. Mabuhay kayo!
