Ghana Host A Triple WPBF Championship on July 31

The Ghana-based Goldenmike Boxing Promotions is extremely excited to announce that its coming shows called as the "Night of Champions",which is scheduled for July 31 at Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra,Ghana. Three vacant title belts of the World Professional Boxing Federation (WPBF) will be up for grabs between 6 ring gladiators from 4 different countries.

 

In the main event,highly-regarded unbeaten light heavyweight contender Braimah Kamoko (19-0,14 KOs) of Ghana will face the tough test of his career battle former WBO middleweight champion Hector Javier Velazko ( 37-8-1 ,16 KOs) of Argentina for a vacant WPBF light heavyweight title. Velazco turned pro in 1996 and defeated Andras Galfi on March 3,2003 for the vacant interim WBO middleweight title. He was elevated to full champion when original titleholder Harry Simon failed to make his mandatory defense due to injuries suffered in a car accident. He lost the belt in his first defense to Felix Sturm.

 

The first co-main event will feature the former Commonwealth welterweight champion Joshua Okine ( 19-4-1 , 13 KOs) who had stoppage wins over previously undefeated David Barnes and Fatai Onikeke,will face Muhammad Abdullaev (20-3, 14 KOs) of Uzbekistan for a vacant WPBF welterweight title. Abdullaev, 36, is the 2000 Sydney Olympics Welterweight Gold Medalist and ex-world title challenger, the same person who fought WBA world champion Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rican at Madison Square Garden, New York, USA last June 11, 2005. Okine at the peak of his career at age 30, will have his hands full against one of the best boxers who came out of Uzbekistan.

 

The second co-main event is the battle for the vacant WPBF light welterweight title between local star WBA Pan African light welterweight titleholder Albert Mensah ( 21-3-1 , 10 KOs) of Ghana will test his skills against Russian tough Karen Tevosyan (15-2-3,9 KOs) for a vacant WPBF light welterweight title. Mensah is on a 13-fight winning streak in a span of 5 years. This is Tevosyan's first fight outside Russia.

 

Triple Championship fights are evenly-matched and will surely create fireworks at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in downtown Accra,the capital of Ghana. The venue is a multi-use,45,000 all-seater stadium,mostly used for association football matches. Originally known as the Accra Sports Stadium, the stadium was renamed after Ohene Djan, the country's first Director of Sports, in 2004. Nonetheless, the stadium is considered by many to be the National Stadium of Ghana. The huge boxing show will be promoted by Goldenmike Boxing Promotions headed by its President, Mike L.A. Tetteh. Supervising the 3 championship fights will be Filipino Dante S. Almario, a respected personality in Philippine boxing. He is currently the WPBF Vice President for Asia-Pacific.
